We think this is the nicest RV park in the Crystal River area. The campground has full hook-ups and cable. The sites are spacious with limited shade. Amenities include a very nice swimming pool, club house, fishing pond, tennis and shuffleboard courts, and organized activities.

The park is on a canal that connects to Crystal River and has a boat ramp and fishing dock. Some of the campsites are on the canal and have boat docks. This part of the river is several miles from the springheads and the Gulf of Mexico and is an expressway for boats. Canoeing and kayaking are not recommended in this area.

Crystal River is famous for its annual winter manatee visits. The best way to view or swim with the manatees is to use a local guide company. An alternative is to visit Homosassa Springs State Park which has manatees on a year round basis. This park also has an excellent zoo and a scenic boat ride.

The nearby Chassahowitzka River is great for canoeing and kayaking. The adjacent County park offers access to the river, rents canoes and John boats and has a small store.

Fort Island Gulf Beach, a Citrus County park, is a short, scenic drive from the campground. As with most Gulf beaches in this area, it is very shallow with a dirty, sand bottom. The park is an excellent location to view sunsets and has a fishing pier, picnic tables and a boat ramp.

Our most recent visits to this park were in May 2005 and February 2006.
