Salt Springs National Park

This national park is in the Ocala National Forest and offers excellent swimming and snorkeling in Salt Springs. It’s a good place to teach your children to snorkel before you take them to the Florida Keys or on a Carribean cruise.

The campsites have full hook-ups, but limited privacy. Cell phone service is sporadic at best. A convenience store and a small grocery store are just outside the park.

The park rents canoes and has a boat ramp. Salt Spring Run flows into the St. Johns River and Lake George. This area is a good place for fishing and for catching blue crabs. There is one short hiking trail.

Nearby attractions include Silver Glenn Springs, Juniper Springs, Alexander Springs and Ravines Gardens State Park.

We stayed at this park in July 2005.
